TV Media Coverage
To be sure, the media coverage has not been fair in terms of amount of coverage. The media has gotten more and more critical of Sen. Obama however while seeming to ignore Sen. McCain unless an attack ad is released or something non policy related is said. How is it at a time like this in our country, with countless problems for the next president to tackle, we get very little policy coverage from our media?
We've got an economy on the down turn; some saying the only reason we avoided a quarter of loss was because of the stimulus package. We have unemployment looking as if it'll pass 6%. We have healthcare costs continue to climb and no energy policy. We have Iran and Pakistan to engage with. Israel and Palestine to help. Afghanistan needs more troops and a much more effective strategy as opposed to the one that is currently failing while Iraq must be handled carefully.
We have both candidates actually talking about such things but the majority of the time we hear them doing so is if one goes and reads the transcripts of the speeches or it is an actual sit down interview. A few shows have done their best to stick to policy discussions (mainly Election Center and Anderson Cooper) but far too few. We Americans deserve better from our TV networks. We also deserve cable news channels that don't take such obvious sides. Some argue about how FOW News is the obvious Republican channel and others argue that MSNBC is the obvious Democrat channel. Psssst, yes both channels are!
