Palin vs. Oil companies

So Sen. Obama used (was missing from his speech and didn't catch it being said during the Democratic convention...) to say he'd windfall profit tax the oil companies and give every American a $1,000 tax credit or "stimulus check". Republicans and Sen. McCain absolutely hammered Mr. Obama for this. Everyone (rightly) screamed that this would actually increase oil/gas prices. Now, the Republican base (and libertarians) are in love with Gov. Palin despite the fact she profit taxed the oil companies and even structured the taxes so that the more profits the oil companies make the more the taxes go up. She did this to pay for a $40 Billion pipeline to go from Alaska to the Lower 48. She also did it though to give Alaskans' a $1,200 tax rebate. The state is now investigating why they pay more than any other state in the country; even having their gas prices not drop while the rest of the countrys' does. This is exactly what Republicans and economists swore would happen if Sen. Obama did this. It happened. Gov. Palin made this happen with her states Democrats. Republicans are loving her despite this. Just some food for thought.
