McCain is Bush isn't working

My original post about the polls still holds true in my view. This is about Sen. John McCain's brand vs. Sen. Barack Obama's newness. The fact is that claiming at every opportunity, whether factually correct or not, that Mr. McCain is a third term of President Bush simply isn't working. The reason this isn't working is because presidential races are largely won on image and personality and absolutely no one could ever confuse Mr. McCain for President Bush. His appearance on the Civil Forum with Rick Warren and his appearance last night on Jay Leno simply continue to show Sen. McCain as not simply another President Bush. The policies can be similar and the voting record 90% in support of Pres. Bush but the image and personality make the claim he's Pres. Bush ring hollow. Democrats need to stop hammering Sen. McCain as a President Bush clone and start attacking Mr. McCain himself. Start attacking his policies point by point. They can attack like Republicans without the negativity. The key point though is to attack, not defend or complain; cry fowl.
