Just a quick heads up

As the statements coming from Prime Minister Maliki in Iraq aren't likely to change and we'll be getting a great deal of information on Sen. Obama's middle-east trip hourly this blog is going to hold off on commenting any further until Sen. Barack Obama's visit in the middle-east is completely over with. A lot of disingenuous statements and even factually wrong statements are being levied by both sides in regards to Iraq as well as Obama's plan for it. Two quick points that I'll elaborate on at another date are these: 1) It is accurate, fair, and a fact that Obama didn't support the surge and he got it wrong. 2) American citizens aren't seeming to care about that, only that Obama has a time line he'll have most of our troops out of Iraq-some home, some into Afghanistan, possibly some in Pakistan-and one must assume Maliki's comments will help Sen. Obama immensely despite being extremely over simplified by his supporters here in America.

Well, i simply disagree on all aspects. First off, it seems according to the polls that Sen McCain is making real inroads with independentts and conservative Democrats not only in terms of them agreeing w/ McCain on the surge but on the way forward in Iraq. More Americans are supporting McCain's plan which is to finish winning the war and continue to pull out troops when conditions warrant. Secondly, Americans see exactly what Maliki has said and what he agreed to with the US that only the continued improvement of everyday life in Iraq, and the continued readiness of both Iraq's government, it military and its police force will warrant further troop decreases to the point where potential in 2-4 year most if not all foreign troops can leave. BUT only conditions on the ground and the readiness of Iraqi troops and police is the responsible way to do. Unfortunately Sen Obama simply doesnt understand this. he continues to have it backwards. just like he had it backwards on the surge. you dont improve security in a country by having less troops, you have more security by having more troops.
