Color Me Irritated

Could someone explain what the heck Palin was talking about when asked about the role of the vice president and saying something like "wiggle room" in the constitution? This particularly irritates me because of all the books I'm reading (as seen in the bar of "Recent Books" on the left side of my blog) and in no fashion did the Founders of this country ever intend to have the vice president have any real power at all. No one need look further than the very first vice president of this country John Adams or our second one, Thomas Jefferson. At least Joe Biden understood the role of the vice president.

Update: On Hannity and Colmes Karl Rove tries to say that Article I doesn't pertain to the Vice President. I suggest "the architect" read the constitution and read the line in Article I, Section III, paragraph 4 that says "The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided. " which is what Joe Biden said in the debate.

For someone who isnt a 3 decade Washington insider, Gov Palin 100% understands how since Fritz Mondale, George Bush, Al Gore and Dick Cheney... the VIce Presidency is now considered
an extremely important position of power. Also btw read the Federalist Papers. Hamilton wrote extensively about the position of the Vice President and how the role of the Vice President is determined based on the whims of the President. and while its true that for along time the VP was a very little important office.. now the powers of the Vice Presidency has expanded significantly. Its simply laughable for Biden to say that Cheney is responsible for this dramatic increase in influence. WRONG. VP Mondale and VP Gore paved the way for Cheney's cementing that increase of influence.and there is no doubt also that Biden would not have accepted the VP spot if not for those previous 4 Vice Presidents (not including Dan Quayle)
